3 W resistor to prevent error messages from the on-board computer, after replacing bulbs with leds.
Use
Some recent and top-of-the-range vehicles receive error messages from the on-board computer (OBC) after replacing the original bulbs with leds.
Effectively, as LEDs use much less energy than bulbs, the OBC considers that the bulb is burned out, and therefore sends you a message saying that you need to change it when the LED switches on perfectly.
For some vehicles where the OBC consumption tolerance is high (approximately 2 W), you can solve the problem by placing this 3 W resistor in contact with the bulb's wiring (without cutting the wires). This resistor simulates a 3 W consumption, and may solve a large number of error message problems on the OBC.
Installation of 3 W resistors similar to 5 W resistors.
Examples of use:
- Sidelight, licence plate
Dimensions (L x w x H): 1.2 x 0.5
Value: 82 ohms
12 V consumption: 1.8 W
Attach the resistor to a metal tip away from plastic parts.
Do not touch the resistor once it is in place due to a burn risk.
